In 2020, while both the pandemic and a national reckoning with police brutality exposed the deep and abiding racism in America, Kresge sharpened its focus and intensified a longstanding commitment to racial justice grantmaking. The Kresge Foundation is a private, national foundation based in Troy, Michigan. In 2020, the foundation had a total charitable spend of $190 million, including $160 million in grants and social investments to help communities across the United States foster economic and social change.
